The
Edgewood Fire Department is composed of a variety of members from local
university students, to young professionals, to long time borough
residents. When you have been accepted to the department, you will be
issued a complete set of firefighter’s personal protective equipment
and a departmental pager. You will not be required to be on call during
any specific hours, but will be encouraged to monitor your pager and
respond to calls as much as possible. In addition, you will be
encouraged to train both through departmental drills and external
training courses. The fire service has a wealth of knowledge to offer
and training is never ending. The following quotes from our members will you give you a better idea
why they joined and what they enjoy most about the fire service.

Additional quotes from members of the Edgewood Fire Department: |
| I joined because I was looking for a local means of matching the adventure that I experienced in the Marine Corps. – Chris Renner |
For me the fire department is family tradition. My grandfather, uncles and my own father were all firefighters.
– Dave Andrews |
| My
advice to anyone thinking of joining the department is: Do it! You’ll
find out how involved the department and its members are in the
community year round. It’s a lot of fun and a lot of work. – Judy Mysles |
There
is so much to learn, interior and exterior firefighting, vehicle
rescue, ladders, ropes, pump operations, power tools and much more.
Best of all, you can get free training on all of it. – Seth Koterba |
